You have Stihl to thank for some of those leaf blowers waking you up every Sunday morning, but if the company would just send us this beautiful corporate gift (otherwise known as "schwag") it created, all would be forgiven. The Stihl Autumn Calendar 2010 has a mechanism that detaches each day as it passes, each sheet floating to the floor like a falling leaf. Might we suggest putting a trash can underneath? This is brilliant. Too bad it's a giveaway item created by the company's agency, Euro RSCG of Duesseldorf, Germany. We'll look for it on eBay. The company should sell this calendar to the general public, offering it each Fall to cover the leaf-peeping period starting around September 23. Until then, this might be a contender for best schwag ever . Here's a video showing it in action, set to the "Autumn" concerto of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons :

Does recording music get any easier than this? GuitarBud is a connecter that plugs your axe right into your phone, allowing you to record straight to any number of apps. Heck, you can just use the built-in voice recorder to lay down a melody you've got in your head. Or you can go a little more pro and turn your phone into a portable studio. Sure, you probably won't want to record an entire album on this thing, but you've gotta admit that it's pretty awesome this ability now exists. PRSguitars via ShinyShiny

The dream of mainstream, non-invasive computer interfaces has arrived, assuming you don't have problem with the space cap you'll need to wear. Austrian firm g.tec Guger Technologies has produced the new system called intendix which allows anyone to control a computer using their own brainwaves. Using visually evoked EEG potentials, the company's software and cap allows mental control of the PC. Although this is clearly a technology dynamic still in the developing stages, it's clear that this will give disabled consumers a much needed bridge to the world of computing that has, until now, seemed like a far off option. You can see video of the intendix computer interface in action here . Via DesignBoom

Looking out into the depth and width of the universe is a big darn job, but luckily we've got big darn telescopes to do it with. Not only are they big, but a lot of these telescopes are pretty crazy looking, too, as astronomers find new methods in penetrating the heavens. A lot of telescopes use one mirror, but some use two. There's even an observatory that skips a one-telescope solution, and just goes for four mega 'scopes. Kick off your journey by hitting up the gallery below to see six of the world's biggest, craziest and most powerful telescopes, from the inside and out.

How do you know when you're really rich? When you buy watches with dinosaur bones inside just because you can. The Louis Moinet Jurassic Tourbillon Watch does indeed feature fragments of 130-million-year-old dinosaur bones inside for some reason. Why? I don't know. But why not, really. It's also got other nice features, like an 18K white gold case with 56 diamonds on the bezel. So in other words, it's insanely expensive. And you'll be reminded of how rich you are every time you check the time. I guess that's the point, no? GizMag via BornRich

Here's an interesting combo device: it's a foldable keyboard designed to pair with tablets to make typing easier. But it's also a cellphone, somehow. So I guess you'd always have it on you if you needed a spare keyboard? The problem is that this phone is designed to pair with a cell-equipped tablet, so it would only work when close to the tablet. But why not figure out how to make the keyboard on a normal phone work with a tablet? Doesn't that make more sense? Ah well, this is just a concept anyhow, so it's all just talk at the moment. You'll have to close the NY Times app and open the email app. It's annoying! New rumors predict a new overhaul of the iPhone software this summer, coinciding with the release of an updated, more powerful iPhone. The software would allow a robust form of multitasking, allowing you to run multiple apps at once. Finally! Now we'll just have to wait and see if the rumors are true.
Japanese cellphone maker KDDI has announced a new phone that should be immediately unpopular to anyone with half a brain: it monitors your movements and can tell when you're slacking off. The phone, which you wear on your wrist, actually, uses an accelerometer to check your movements against information stored on a server — which the wrist-phone communicates with wirelessly — to identify what you're doing. The folks at KDDI claim that the technology is actually pretty accurate, too, and can distinguish between actions such as walking, scaling a staircase or cleaning something. It'd be able to tell when an office worker or a window cleaner were doing the things they're supposed to be doing, or if they're just sitting there. While it all screams Big Brother, Philip Sugai, director of the mobile consumer lab at the International University of Japan, told the BBC it actually may not be so bad: "Technically, I think this is an incredibly important innovation. For example, when applied to the issue of telemedicine, or other situations in which remotely monitoring or accessing an individual's personal movements is vital to that service." He did acknowledge there could be negative ramifications associated with the information the watchphone could gather, though. A negative side that KDDI knows about, and considers part of its market for the device. Your boss knowing your every move could be a "good thing," however, according to Hiroyuki Yokoyama, a KDDI researcher. "Of course there are privacy issues and any employers should really enter into an agreement with employees before using such a system," he told the BBC. "But this is not about curtailing employees' rights to privacy. We'd rather like to think our creation more of a caring, mothering system rather than a Big Brother approach to watching over citizens." Hey, it could happen, right? A nurturing Big Brother? No, not buying it? Yep, neither are we. Who wants to wear a wrist-phone , anyway? BBC , via The Register

The motion controller formerly known as Sphere is now the PlayStation Move, and Sony has come out swinging (literally) with loads of new information about the device. It still looks like a Wiimote with a little ball on top (and there's even a nunchuk-style attachment Sony's calling the "sub controller"), though Sony's works in tandem with its PlayStation Eye camera — which has been out for a while now. You can buy the controllers individually if you already own an Eye when the devices land this holiday season, or buy a controller, Eye and a motion-controlled game for somewhere under $100, which is pretty reasonable. Some of Sony's existing games will be drafted to work with the new system, including titles such as LittleBigPlanet and the SOCOM series. There will also be all-new titles, though if you own a Wii, you're probably already familiar with them: sports games, rail-shooters and the like. Check out the video below to see what kind of gameplay you can expect — everything from light gun shooter clones to the obligatory sports titles. Via Destructoid

Then again, that's the point. Designer Ichiro Iwasaki, a one-time member of the Sony Design Center who spent many years studying design in Italy, designed the Lotta to be a no-frills phone that isn't trying to win you over with amazing features, but rather with its strikingly minimalistic good looks. Even the more colorful versions of the two-tone Lotta don't feel like they're crowding the design. It's fitting that Iwasaki designed his phone for iida, a Japanese company that focuses on cellphones that eschew loading up on features for basic functionality and a thoughtful design . Sadly, you'll probably never see the Lotta here in the US, though you can ogle all you want in the gallery down below. Lotta , via Minimalissimo
