This isn’t the first lifesize papercraft Link we’ve seen, it’s just the first one we’ve seen outdoors . Created by DeviantARTist stuioofmm (aka Michaela Something), it’s always nice to see a character in their natural element . Mine? My natural element is in the middle of a epic battle box of Girl Scout Cookies. :/ Link is a life size papercraft model standing around 5′5. He is made completely from 250 gsm paper (about 4x stronger then normal paper). He has foam core supports in the top and bottom of his pants, top and bottom of his boots and a ring in his waist. There is also some in the back of his shield, and in the handle of the master sword. Link is made from 250+ pages, the initial template is 198, but there are layers of strips of paper inside for support, and 831 pieces. I worked on him constantly for a month, working approximately 12 hours each day but sometimes that number could go up to 20. Not gonna lie, when I first saw a thumbnail picture I thought he was a giant piata. “Haha — you would, GW!” I would what — hit that? All night long. Or him me, I don’t care. I swing every which-way, including blindfolded . What can I say, I’m kinky. “Pfft, blindfolds aren’t even kinky.” They are when you’re banging tree-people! Hit the jump for several more shots and a link to the artist’s DeviantART with high-res versions.

Okay it’s not actually a xylophone, it’s a marimba, which is like a xylophone, but without all the crazy spelling. The first video is the main Zelda theme , but there are a couple other ditties as well, including the Song of Storms , Gerudo Valley theme, Saria’s Song and the Song of Time. Me? I just belted out Britney Spears’ ‘Lucky’ in the shower as loud as I could not realizing my roommate had brought people over. WTF DEREK — I NEVER BRING FRIENDS OVER UNANNOUNCED. “I know — because you don’t have any!” OMG I am so gonna kill you tonight. This is the preview for the upcoming ‘ Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword ‘ shown at the currently-happening San Diego Comic-Con. Not gonna lie, I’m getting pretty excited thinking about it (plus naked mermaids!). Yes it’ll require digging my Wii out the back of my closet, and will probably be the last game I play before selling the console at auction signed ‘The Geekologie Writer’, but it’ll be worth it. Also: buying my signed console . SixDollarsSixDollarsWe’veGotSixDollarsOverHereDoIHearAMillion? Hit the jump AND GET PUMPED. Or don’t, it’s not my problem if you’re not into having fun.

This is a short commercial for the Nintendo 3DS release of ‘ Ocarina of Time ‘ starring Robin Williams and his daughter Zelda, WHO READS GEEKOLOGIE and was named after Princess Zelda in 1989 after only the first two games had come out. Thankfully, he’d only played the first at the time and not ‘ The Adventure of Link ‘, because there’s no way he could have played that one and not named her ‘Seriously, F*** That Last Palace’. I still haven’t beat that shit. Hit the jump for the commercial, along with a 4:00 interview of the two talking about why she was named Zelda, in which Robin clarifies it’s not because of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s wife (although that is where Miyamoto originally got the name).

Note: Video has some cussin’. Ever wanted to see a fan-film combining one of the best video game franchises of all time with one of of the best movies of all time to produce a mediocre short? Well you’re in luck, because this is that! I just hope you didn’t waste one of three genie wishes on making it happen though, because you might be disappointed. Ooooooor about to get knocked the f*** out and the lamp stolen. Per the synopsis: Shortly after the events of Ocarina of Time, Doc Brown tells Link he must travel back to time, chronicling the Legend of Zelda series in the ultimate timeline. Will Link survive his heroic quest? Spoiler alert: No. Wait — Link dies?! WUH TEH FUH! That is sooooooo not cash. That is not even coins, that is dryer lint and candy wrappers. Which, unfortunate fact: a grocery store cashier will not take in exchange for a steak. Not even if its a Indian star Tootsie Pop wrapper. DAMMIT LADY — IN CANDYLAND THIS IS LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS! “This isn’t Candyland.” Fine, FINE. Trade me a pork chop for a half-eaten Ring Pop? Hit the jump for over five minutes of huh?

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword drops later this year and I’ll be dragging my Wii out of the back of my closet to play it. Theeeeeeen I’ll probably sell it on eBay after signing it ‘Miyamoto’ in Sharpie because I’m a dirty swindler. Anyway, this is some of composer Koji Kondo’s music for the game played forwards, then, at the 1:00 mark, played backwards. Sound familiar? SPOILER: It’s a demonic spell Zelda’s Lullaby. Reminds me of the song I tried to make that would subliminally make girls fall in love me when played backwards. Unfortunately, it made all their ears bleed when played forwards. That was a real turn-off for me. Hit the jump, listen for a couple seconds, then skip to 1:00 for the backwards.

Zeta — really? Not even Zora or Zelda? Note: It’s dangerous to go alone! Full-res shot HERE . I’d recognize that sword and shield anywhere! Unless they were at a crime scene in which case, nope, never seen that shit. Officer what do I look like, some sort of adventurous ’save the princess’ type? I barely leave the basement and I’ve never seen a princess’s tits before IN MY LIFE. No clue what Zeta trading trades in, but my guess is arrows and bombs. “What about bottles?” I’M CHUGGING ONE RIGHT KNOW, I KNOW THAT. Okaaaaaaaaaay , pretty sure that one was a fairy. Location in Google Maps Thanks to Tom, who actually found the sign randomly searching Hong Kong streets in Google Maps. Suuuuuure you were, Tom. OR SHOULD I SAY, GANON?!

That’s right folks, today, February 21st, 2011 marks the 25th anniversary of everybody’s favorite video game franchise. “Not mine, I hate those games .” OH YEAH WELL I HATE YOUR FACE SO THERE. Such a f***ing Ganon. Including the original game’s release on the Famicom Disk System in 1986 (for which it was a launch title), a total of 14 unique and “proper” Zelda games (excluding re-releases) have been published by Nintendo for the Famicom/NES, Game Boy, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, DS and Wii. A number of other Zelda games, some not made by Nintendo and others being spin-off titles, have also been released in that time, while the 15th game — Skyward Sword — is due later this year on the Wii. With The Legend Of Zelda: The Ocarina Of Time widely regarded as the greatest game ever made , and with the series as popular and iconic today as it was back in 1986, it retains a very special place in the heart of many gamers Are you thinking what I’m thinking? If you answered, “let’s all head down to Lon Lon Ranch for some cake and milk” you are! I’m gonna drink straight from a cow’s udder! “Uh, GW? That’s a bull.” Soooooooo…this isn’t an udder is what you’re saying. Happy 25th Birthday, The Legend Of Zelda [kotaku] Thanks to Chris G and Luke, who almost love the Zelda franchise as much as I do, except romantically. YA’LL NASTY!

This is a video from the same makers as the ‘If God of War was a Wes Anderson Movie’ and ‘ Inglourious Plummers ‘ flicks. It’s the story of Link and Zelda as told as an 80’s coming of age film ( The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Say Anything , etc.). Admittedly, it was pretty well made and they even roughed up the footage to give it that “holy shit the VCR is eating my tape” feel. WHICH YOU YOUNGER WHIPPER-SNAPPLES CAN’T EVEN APPRECIATE. Also, car windows that aren’t electric . You know how long it took me to perfect a roll-up that would look electric to hot chicks watching from the outside? Forever. Literally, I never got it. I think they all thought I was masturbating. Hit the jump for the worthwhile video. Tingle’s in it, just sayin’!
