Advanced snorkel lets you swim underwater indefinitely

If your childhood swimming experiences included fantasies of somehow becoming Aquaman and powering through the water like the master of the sea, a new device won’t give you gills, but will bring you a little closer to the dream.

Ray goes to Shanghai, a city in constant hyper-development

Last week, I went to Shanghai for the very first time — I’ve been to other parts of China before. With no expectations, I landed in Shanghai ready to see the newest HP computers. I ended up seeing more than just Sleekbooks , new Ultrabooks and portable printers . Consider this my travel B-roll. These are my impressions of a city we all write about quite a bit as tech reporters, but usually for the gadgets being showcased, not the amazing city itself.

WTF is this disgusting thing from the deep?

There it was, going about its business at 5,000 feet below the surface, terrorizing the other deep-sea creatures when all of a sudden it was caught on camera by an ROV. It tries to scuttle out of the picture like Bigfoot on a bad hair day, but that ROV operator stays with it.

Pic: South Korea’s dizzying, record-breaking 105-foot Lego tower

Sure, usually the complex castles and vehicles get most of the Lego-lovin’ press. A simple tower like this one just finished in Seoul, South Korea might not get much press unless it were for the fact that it now holds the world record as the tallest Lego structure.

Jaw-dropping custom amphibious car is yours for $259,500

The only catch to buying this car, other than coming up with the scratch to pay for it, is you are going to have to want to break a record. This highly customized car — called Project Sea Lion — was created for the sole purpose of grabbing the amphibious land speed record. We doubt perspective owners will have a problem with that.

Zelda Medley Performed On Banjo And Musical Saw

This is a medley of Zelda songs being performed by Geekologie Reader Falcor T. Luckdragon and his two man ensemble Frontier Ruckus on the banjo and musical saw, with some melodica (the little keyboard you blow into) action towards the end. Now granted I didn’t recognize any of the songs, but that’s only because they were impossible to focus on since my computer has a virus and keeps popping up with auto-playing ads for penis pills. Ugh, of COURSE I feel inadequate, but I’m still not crazy enough to order dong pills from a malicious ad on the internet! “Be honest.” Well, not again anyways. Hit the jump for more moonshine swiggin’ good ol’ boy action than you could swing a broken Budweiser bottle at.

Norwegian Air Force celebrates 100 years with scary close flying

We won’t blame you for not keeping track of Scandinavian military anniversaries. That’s our job. This year happens to be the 100th anniversary of the Norwegian Air Force, and it’s celebrating by giving one of its F-16s a fancy new paint job and shoving it up the backside of a C-130 Hercules in flight.
