Giant papier-mache rhino terrorizes Japanese zoo, almost escapes

You have to hand it to the folks over at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo . They probably don’t need to use a life-size rhino made out of papier-m?ch?, but they didn’t skimp either. The thing even has wiggling ears and a swinging tail. It’s hilarious to see in action.

An indie film group just exhibited a quirky piece at the Sundance Festival — a film created via a computer algorithm . Something of a “film clip roulette,” the team shot unique scenarios, voice-overs and music clips that end up spliced together for a unique film that is different at each viewing.

An unlikely tribute to the awesome exploding head in Scanners

I’m a sucker for a sweet exploding head scene. Dawn of the Dead had a good one — quick, but fun. Total Recall has my favorite implied noggin popping ( almost two ). The best-of-the-best though, has to be from the scene in David Cronenberg’s Scanners , and it just got a worthy tribute from — of all places — a music video.

1,000-pound butter sculpture doubles as a power source

Butter sculptures are a big attraction at the Pennsylvania Farm Show — and apparently the bigger the better. This year saw a giant pastoral scene of a boy leading his calf. Cute, but you know us better — we love it because it is going to be dumped in a manure pit and from there will power a farm for three days.
