This is a real game in development featuring Super Mario Bros. BUT WITH PROTALS!!!!11 (Protals are the new portals btw). It will eventually be released for free but you can’t play it yet because, well, that’s life. Oh shishi, you want some game facts? COO BRO I GOT THAT. All the source code of the game will be available after release The game will have mappacks, which will be downloadable from ingame. Users most likely won’t be able to publish maps directly, but will be able to send them in and we’ll add them for everyone to use. The primary maps will have a story and some portaly puzzles. What kind, well, we’ll figure that out as we go Level editor will be embedded in the game so you can edit the level while you play Original SMB levels and Lost levels will be included Simultaneous Multiplayer Looks promising. And I don’t say that about just any game. Yes, yes I do. You know how they always make a super shitty video game to accompany every kid’s movie that comes out? I’ve played all of them. Aaaaaaaaand I regret it. Hit the jump for a video of the gameplays.
The rest is here:

Note: Worthwhile full-res version HERE that I was was in the dimensions of my desktop background. This is the Deku Tree of Life as imagined by artist Jude Buffman (of 8-bit butcher diagram and Rainbow Brite fatality fame) for the iam8bit art show happening right now here in LA. Apparently he’s got some prints of the piece for sale at the show (which I might go grab if they’re still available and the price is right!), but will also be selling posters at a later date. SCIENCE!: For my contribution to the show, I created Magna Arbor Vitae Deku (traslated “The Great Deku Tree of Life”) a sprawling exploration of the evolutionary biology of the 200 most important species from the Legend of Zelda video game series. Complete with binomial Latin names (Zora Bellator and Zora Fluvialis share a common ancestor with the more peaceful species Zora Sapien, for example), the brances of the Deku tree trace the evolution of each species over millions of years. Forks in the branches indicate an extinct common ancestor of the species that follow. You know, I can honestly say I’ve never given much thought to the evolution of Hyrulian species. What it would be like to bang a Goron, absolutely. Explosive. Get it? Because they make bombs! it would feel so good. Like making love to a parking lot. Hit the jump for a couple closeups.

This is a short video of a house in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood (of hey man, got any acid? fame) in San Francisco with a secret garage door that opens out of a couple seemingly boring windows, making it that much easier to accidentally park your car in a neighbor’s basement. This apartment building in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco has recently been remodeled to include four precious car parking spaces while maintaining the historical Victorian facade. Damn, that’s one hell of an improvement FOR AN APARTMENT BUILDING. I’ve been waiting seven months for the landlord to replace the exhaust fan in my bathroom. You know how embarrassing it is knowing your friends can hear you busting ass when you’re on the can? No seriously, I’m asking — I’ve never had friends over. I tried inviting a pizza delivery guy in one time but he was all “no homo” and I was all “DOUBLE SAUSAGE!” Hit the jump and be impressed. Obviously still needs a touch up though.

This is the video for Daft’s Punk’s first single, ‘Derezzed’, off the TRON: Legacy soundtrack. It’s pretty badass. The song too. Almost enough to make me forget Disney is behind the whole production. Almost . But like another famous mouse once told me, “Here I come to save the day!” Dammit — not you, Mighty. “Where a kid can be a kid?” Close enough, Chuck — TO THE BALL-PIT! Hit the jump for the very worthwhile song and video.

That wasn’t actually a joke. You get a zedonk. Half zebra , half ass , 100% honky-tonk-zedonk-a-donk. I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave! Woo-wee, shut my mouth, slap yo’ gradma! A zedonk, an unusual cross between a donkey and a zebra, is attracting attention at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in Dahlonega after being born there about a week ago. The animal, which has a zebra father and donkey mother, has black stripes prominently displayed on her legs and face. C.W. Wathen, the preserve’s founder and general manager, said the foal has a zebra’s instincts. Wathen said she sits up instead of lying on her side, as if she’s staying alert for predators. Donkeys and zebras don’t usually mate, but zedonks turn up occasionally. You know what else usually don’t mate? Humans and horses. Then how do you explain the centaurs? Somebody really wanted a pony growing up (and has daddy issues). Zedonk hybrid born at Ga. wildlife preserve [yahoonews] Thanks to Morgan, who’s trying to mate badgers and donkeys to breed bad-asses.

This is a smattering of Pokmon characters drawn in a traditional Japanese style (high-res shot of more HERE ). The artist took the time to recreate all 151 original monsters though, so you’ll have to hit the link at the bottom if you gotta see ‘em all . See what I did there? That’s just one of the many services your GW offers. Also, spa treatments. Body massage? WHO WANTS A BODY MASSAGE? ????????????? [livedoor] (with a whole bunch more) Thanks to Ford and Shaun, who, get back in your balls!

From Teefury comes ‘Hothmas’ a seasonal t-shirt feauring an AT-AT Rudolph getting wrapped up by a T-47 airspeeder. Teefury , like shirt.woot, features a different shirt every day. Except, unlike shirt.woot, Teefury’s designs are gone forever after 24 hours with no chance of revival on the site (shirt.woot’s ‘Zombie Vampire Robots from Space’ design featured two weeks now available again HERE for $15). $9 plus $2 shipping takes the shirt until midnight eastern, when I’ll turn into a pumpkin awesome dragon. Teefury (will be a different shirt every day)

This is some French guy making a little superconductor train out of a bunch of magnets and a cup of magic potion . I have no idea what’s in the magic potion but that won’t stop me from chugging a whole chalice in the hopes of floating. Plus, it even works upside down which is super cool because I’ve always wanted to take a nap on the ceiling. I will drool on you! Youtube Thanks to Rich the destroyer, who destroys because he’s Rich the destroyer damnit, you know who he is!

We’ve seen Nintendos stuffed into NES cartridges before, but never with with such a quality final product. My nesP is basically a noname china brand portable media player, with the advantage of being able to play nes roms, and a nes controller hacked to the controls….Well it worked perfect, it was like it was made to fit, I didn’t use any hot glue or anything other than some double sided tape to hold the battery in place. It’s a really tight fit though. It’s got 4gb built in memory, with a sd card slot in the inside so you could expand the memory if needed, and not only does it play nes games, but it also plays gameboy and gameboy color roms as well. 2.8″ TFT LCD, built-in rechargeable lithium battery, Video player, MP3 player, FM radio, Picture viewer, Audio recorder, it’s got a camera and video camera (but I disabled them to fit in the case), built in speaker, and the best part… TV-OUT !!! so you can play on the big screen! I would rock that. Of course, I would rock a lot of things. Including, but not limited to: your ass at some Powerstone 2 on Dreamcast! Bring it, chumps! Several shots of the innards and a video (extra points for being Youtube user ‘robotswillkillyou’) of the console in action after the jump.

Be honest, every single one of you would rock this handbag . I know I would, and I don’t give a dang if it clashes with my live bear chaps or not (all man, baby). Available from evilmadscientist as mini and full-size kits ($20 and $25, respectively) you’re still gonna have to know how to sew. Which I, unfortunately, do not. Last time I tried mending a tear in my jeans I ended up sewing my penis to my ankle. True story. Hit the jump for some shots of the unfinished kit so you can get a real sense of all the fun to be had.
