Theory11’s $6 Steampunk Playing Cards are manufactured in concert with the American Playing Card company on custom bronze-effect paper stock. The cards feature machinelike illustrations and are really rather well done. Steampunk Playing Cards - theory11.com ( via The Dieline )

This is a steampunk Samus Aran arm cannon made by DeviantARTist Skinz-N-Hydes (NOT Skinz-N-Shirtz, which is how you play kickball). Whether you’re into steampunk stuff or not, you’ve got to admit it would suck to sit on bare-assed. “No it wouldn’t.” Haha, I know. Hit the jump for a couple more pics, as well as some of his ‘Glove-O-Love’ steampunk arm made for a film short, but be sure to check out his DeviantART page for a ton more of steapunkery if you’re into it.

Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since the original publication of The Difference Engine , William Gibson and Bruce Sterling’s seminal cyberpunk alternate history about a Victorian England dominated by mechanical computers. I was privileged to write the introduction to this 20th Anniversary special edition, which also includes new material from Bill and Bruce about the book’s creation. It came out today, and I can’t wait to get my copy! The Difference Engine

Instructables user Gogglerman made this beautiful mechanical irising case for a steampunky wristwatch movement, and posted hints for making your own. It’s one of the sweetest projects I’ve ever seen, and definitely the coolest application of steampunk to horology I know about. Steampunk wristwatch with mechamical iris cover. “TimEye”. ( via Make )

These are a bunch of steampunk insects made out of old ammunition and pocket-watch parts by Tom Hardwidge. As you can see, they’re pretty good looking. Unless you hate steampunk stuff, in which case they’re probably pretty bad looking. Whatever side of the fence you yell over, they’re definitely not insects you’d want to beat with a shoe too hard. Get it? Because they might detonate! crawl in an orifice while you sleep and lay eggs. Kidding — KIDDING, only spiders do that. Sweet dreams, jerk! Hit the jump for a bunch more, and the link to even MORE.

I’m calling it a Steampunk Warrior Kitty Helmet because the thought of a Borg cat scares the shit out of me and, truthfully, I ate some spoiled sushi last night and there’s no way my bowels could handle that right now. My own personal Mount Doom aside, it looks like Snowball here’s having a great time, doesn’t it? Just kidding, his name’s Hugo, possibly due to his resemblance of the LOST character by the same name . Still, if there’s one thing cats love, it’s licking their @$$holes in front of company you putting shit on their heads. Trust me, I’m an animal lover cracker. Oh geez — please don’t bite my head off! Hit the jump for a side-shot, then start crafting your own. Your cat’ll hate you for it!

This is a commercial for The League of S.T.E.A.M. (Supernatural and Troublesome Ectoplasmic Apparitional Management), a Victorian-looking ghost elimination company. I thought it was pretty cute. If you like what you see, they have a series of shorts on Youtube of them catching spirits or whatever the hell a bunch of steampunky ghostbusters do. And speaking of catching spirits — toss me an airplane bottle and LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED! Happy 4th of July weekend everybody! Hit it for the video.

NOTE: Jump video is after the jump. This is a two-minute time-lapse video of Geekologie Reader Joshua getting a steampunkish mechanical owl tattoo on his taint arm. The whole process took six hours, so basically you’re watching at 180x. It kind of reminds me of Bubo from the original ‘Clash of the Titans’, which is an awesome movie and I won’t have you bad mouthing it. Of course I’ve avoided seeing the new one because I don’t want my childhood desecrated. And by “don’t want my childhood desecrated” I mean I’m banned from the closest theater for exposing myself during ‘ Avatar ‘. 3-D makes me crazy! Hit it for the video.

This is a picture of a steampunk’d Princess Leia and Boba Fett from deviantARTist onewhospinsflags . Good lookin’, onewhospinsflags. Say, you don’t happen to know onewhospinshislittlepeeneraroundlikeahelicopter, do you? Because I sat next to him on the bus once. I think he should pay for my drycleaning. onewhospinsflags’ DeviantART Thanks to sham, who once created a steampunk’d Star Trek costume but the coal-powered pants warmer caught fire and burnt it all up.

This is a steampunk wedding cake created by Mike’s Amazing Cakes in Seattle, WA and photographed by Libby Bulloff. I want to put my face in it so bad. I heart fondant ! Liz and Austin’s steampunked wedding cake. The metallic gears, doors, rivets, and panels were all made of fondant and were entirely edible. This is probably the baddest-ass wedding cake you will ever see. Respect. Best part: the cake tasted just as decadent as it looked! I had a slice of the lemon layer after photographing it. Anybody else like the title I came up with? Thanks, I thought that was pretty clever myself. Gears Of War: A Steampunk Wedding Cake . Because marriage is like a war or something. Except mine. Mine was like a GW genocide. Hit the jump for a closeup.
