This is a video of a new 3-D laser display that can “print” 3-D images IN MIDAIR. How? Magic. I know I say that a lot, but I’m actually 99% certain this time. The system has a framerate of just 10-15 FPS right now, although the company is working on bumping that up to 24-30. It’s smoother in real life than it looks in this video, though. According to DigInfo News, the video was shot at 30 FPS, which makes the 15 FPS projection look like it’s flickering. Yeaaaaaaah, why on earth would a cameraman covering A TECHNOLOGY CONVENTION shoot a 15FPS laser lightshow at 30FPS? Jesus — where’d you find this guy, Craigslist? Hit the jump for the future of…something. P0rn? Video games? Probably one of those two.

F***in’ water — how does it work? This is a video of water doing its thing (being wet? I have no idea) at 7,000 frames per second . It…looks drinkable. The water that comes out of the tap in my apartment? Brown. It’s so bad it’s actually stained the floor of the bathtub. Or is that because I pee in it? The world may never know! (It’s because I pee in it, derder) Hit the jump for the hypnotic wa-wa in action.

Gallium (Ga, atomic #31 between zinc and germanium) is a silvery metallic metal not found elementally in nature. But that’s not what’s important, what’s important is it melts just a little above room temperature (~86F, 30C). So you can mold it into whatever you want (but NOT a dildo!) in the fridge and then pass it off to an unsuspecting friend as steel and watch it melt on them . Oh the hilarity! In this demonstration, a spoon molded from gallium is stirred in a cup of warm water and melts almost immediately. Imagine if that were a friend’s coffee! You could tell them it’s mercury and they’re probably gonna die! Huge fan of the ‘you’re gonna die!’ pranks. You could say I live for them. Get it?! Me neither, I got high at lunch and shouldn’t have! Hit the jump for the demo and a couple websites to buy pure gallium if you want (it’s not super cheap though, around $40-$60 for enough to make a spoon — it is reusable though)

Note: Video that you may have already seen is after the jump. Seen here looking colder than an Antarctic witch’s nips, Youtube user samantha683 prepares to throw a cupful of boiling water into the -30C (-22F) air and show you what happens. SPOILER: she accidentally hits the cameraman and melts his face off. No, no she doesn’t. The water just instantly turns to dust. Not real dust though because real dust is mostly dead skin cells and fly @$$holes — it just looks like dust. And you know what else looks like dust? Nothing, it’s pretty unique. Belly button lint isn’t though, which is how I managed to pack my navel with dingleberries and convince my girlfriend to pick them out. Hit the jump and watch the magic in action.

This is a series of LOST themed tarot cards designed by Alex Griendling . Now I’ve never had a tarot card reading before because I’m against black magic, but I did go to get my palm read once. You know what the lady had the nerve to tell me? Come back when you’ve shaved your palm. DON’T JUDGE ME, WITCH! Hit the jump for two close-ups and a link to Alex’s Flickr with all the individual cards.

This is some French guy making a little superconductor train out of a bunch of magnets and a cup of magic potion . I have no idea what’s in the magic potion but that won’t stop me from chugging a whole chalice in the hopes of floating. Plus, it even works upside down which is super cool because I’ve always wanted to take a nap on the ceiling. I will drool on you! Youtube Thanks to Rich the destroyer, who destroys because he’s Rich the destroyer damnit, you know who he is!
