7:30, guys, really? Isn’t it a little early for an all-out battle? Daddy needs his coffee and some bathroom time. This is a video from a recent episode of the Japanese equivalent of Power Rangers that quite possibly features every single Power Ranger in battle at the same time. Pfft, I’m pretty sure the original six could have handled it alone. Just sayin’, Zordon, it wouldn’t kill you to take a course in supply chain management before sending out the whole crew again. In this scene from the Japanese tokusatsu show Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (which premiered last month in Japan), a battle erupts between some bad guys and what appears to be every Super Sentai (a.k.a. “Power Rangers” stateside) hero ever created. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems like pulling out all the stops and having an every-ranger-ever battle in the first month of a show’s premier is a little excessive. You gotta save that shit for when ratings are slumpin’, yo! How could you possibly live up to a Power Ranger Battle Royale in the first month? “Uh, by replaying the same footage in a different context every couple weeks?” Touch, Rainbow Ranger — now touch my butt. This isn’t particularly NEW news because we mentioned it back in 2006 when you weren’t even kneehigh to a tadpole yet, but we’ve got video this time. And video, as you may well know, are the words of the future . So yeah, a Japanese pool that can create shapes out of waves. That’s a kidney there. *whispering* Okay, my producer just told me this isn’t a kidney, it’s a heart. Haha, actually — it may in fact be a pancreas. It uses computer-controlled actuators that move the water in perfect synchronization. The computer software uses fluid dynamics algorithms to calculate the necessary motions. The whole think looks like a computer rendering, but it’s real. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Finally, a way to write love letters to Ariel without smearing the ink! For Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary a chain of convenience stores in Japan will be selling his likeness in the shape of questionably filled cookie buns. Mmmmmm!! Now call me old fashioned, but I still like to celebrate anniversaries the way God intended: with somebody jumping out of a cake. Yep, that’s right. For limited time only, Circle K stores in Japan have started to sell these Pac-Man shaped buns. My Japanese isn’t good (as in I can’t read it at all), but from what I can tell, they sell for 120 (about $1.31 USD), and they’re not filled with cherries, pretzels or power pills. Instead, they’re chock full of crushed almond-flavored cookies and cream custard. That actually sounds pretty good. Anybody in Japan want to send me some? I’ll pay you back — IN THE BLOOD OF MY ENEMIES. I will strike them down with my replica Master Sword and feast on their carcasses! I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth.
