Because SOMEBODY had to do SOMETHING with all those unwanted AOL CDs , Australian artist Sean Avery decided to put them to good use creating little animal sculptures (custom ones available on his website for ~$320-$850). Good lookin’, Sean. Some artists work in paint, some in clay, and others in light and music. Avery? Avery works in broken CDs . Me? I work in a cramped office with no windows and an officemate who brags about how nasty his gas is. Hit the jump for more and a link to Sean’s website WITH EVEN MORE THAN THAT.

This is an Archie comics themed engagement shoot (and Photoshopping) for newly committed couple Bryan and Anne by Visionary Photography Hub. I don’t know if you guys knew it or not, but I’m somewhat of a visionary photographer myself. *staring at cubicle wall through Polaroid viewfinder* This shot needs way more laser boobs. Surprisingly, everything was drawn by the company’s graphic artist, except for the diner setting which was shot at Johnny Rockets. “Photoshop was used and as well as a pen tablet for the illustrations,” [creative Director Mike] Lavarez explained to us. The greatest challenge in creating these scenes belonged not to the graphic artist, however, but to Jervy Santiago, the photographer. “He had to consider the rules of perspective in every layout,” he said. “The point of views had to be consistent since we wanted everything to look dimensional with a cinematic flair (a storyboard was involved for each angle). It had to look like they were actually with Archie and his gang.” Admittedly, I like the concept, and I rarely like anything. Not even, wait for it — candy or ice cream. *gasps from audience* Joking, you don’t get *jiggling belly* this fat eating nothing but yogurt and celery. It also took a lot of beer and — AND — surviving multiple heart attacks. “Those weren’t heart attacks, just really bad gas.” I thought that was the smell of death. Hit the jump for the whole series, which kind of tells a story. Not a particularly interesting one, but a loose story nonetheless.

This is a video of Microsoft robotics engineer Jordan Correa explaining and demonstrating the robotic ” pet companion ” he built to keep his dog Darwin company when he and his wife are at work. It was hacked together using an X-Box Kinect, laptop, robotic claw arm (for picking things up), a robotic throwing arm (for playing fetch), and even has a treat dispenser so the dog doesn’t piss itself and run away every time the thing comes to life. Jordan can control the robot from work using a PC and X-Box controller. Impressive work, Jordan, but I’ve actually installed a hidden cam before to see what Chloe does when I’m not around, and it wasn’t miss me or wish she had a robot friend to play with. It was sleep. Well, sleep, and fart in her sleep. At one point it looked like she woke herself up with real stinker, then blamed a pillow and moved to the other end of the couch. That’s it — that was her entire day. “I’m jelly.” Same . Hit the jump for the last thing your dog will ever see (before hiding under the bed).

Remember last year’s release of Super Mario Converse special editions ? Well they’re back with another, this time in low-tops. Me? I like my tops muffin . Dropping next month for an undisclosed amount of gold coins, the Converse Japan One Star Super Mario Bros OX are the perfect shoes for doing a little princess saving. Ooooooor walking to the liquor store. They are NOT for kicking shit though. And neither are flip-flips (that’s how I got worms). Converse One Star Super Mario Bros. OX [highsnobiety] Thanks to Jacques, who claims he used to have a pair of Altered Beast Asics back in the day. Get the f*** out!

Dutch designer Jlan van der Wiel made these stools with magic by mixing iron filings with molten plastic and creating the legs by “pulling” them up using magnets. When the plastic hardens, BAM — you’ve got yourself a stool. “What the — I’m not milking cows , who the hell sits on a stool anymore?” Who sits on a stool anymore?!?! What the hell do you think I’m blogging from? “The toilet.” Haha, you have no idea how many articles I’ve written from here. “All of them?” Every single one. Hit the jump for a pictorial of the process.

This is a series of conceptual Evian water bottles designed by Mandy Brencys to look like both Star Wars characters AND lightsabers . Still, would you be willing to pay an extra $2 for a bottle of water that looks like a wookie-saber? Of course you would — look who I’m f***ing talking to. Evian Star Wars (on Marcy’s CargoCollective page) Thanks to PYY, who may or may yes be a water fairy. “Woodland.” She’s a woodland fairy.

This is a nearly funded Kickstarter for Ferrite Interactive Liquid Sculptures. They’re basically TMNT ooze canisters with a magnetic liquid ( ferrofluid ) suspended in another, clear liquid that you can manipulate to make cool shapes with external magnets . Contributing $100 gets you a mini one when (if) they’re manufactured next July, $150 a large one, and $200 scores one of each. You’ll have to watch the demonstration video after the jump though to fully appreciate them, just talking about them doesn’t really do them justice. But do you know who does do justice? My crime fighting alter-ego, Captain Handsome. Dashing, isn’t he? “That’s just you ducking behind a movie-theater cutout of that kid from Twilight .” It’s true. I used to have a Batman one but my roommate fought it and won. Hit the jump for the worthwhile video demo and a link to the Kickstarter page.

This is the $90 Click Keypad watch. It was made to look like the number pad of a computer keyboard and tells the time by blinking the corresponding numbers in order. Plus you can actually click the keys if you want to pretend like you’re hacking an ATM or something to impress a date. *mashing watch buttons* Just watch, any second this thing’s gonna start spitting out free money! “Nice try — I saw you enter your card and PIN number right when we walked up.” It says insufficient funds — spot me for dinner? Hit the jump for several more shots and a link to the product site.

This is the $34 Mario warp pipe coffee mug from Fangamer , the same company that brought us the Mega Man energy tank coffee mug . It makes a great stocking stuffer. Or, should I say, stocking clogger ? Get it? Because it’s a pipe and sometimes pipes get clogged if you flush too many paper towels and tampons. What? I’M BEING REAL. Plus one time I flushed a pair of underwear because I’d made a mistake in the back and was too embarrassed to have my girlfriend wash them. $140 later the plumber Roto-Rooted them out and showed them to her anyways. CURSE YOU, MARIO! Hit the jump for several more shots, including the mug as a (piranha) planter.

This is the music video for Hey Geronimo’s ‘Why Don’t We Do Something?’ (I dunno, maybe because we’re really f***ing high and the couch is comfortable!), featuring a bunch of iPhone games recreated in real life . It’s worth checking out. The games: Flight Control, Fruit Ninja, Plants Vs. Zombies, Angry Birds and Cut the Rope. Don’t worry though, the song’s okay, but it’s not the kind that’s gonna get stuck in your head for the rest of the day like Chocolate Rain or the TROLOLOLOL song. HAHA — have fun with those two, jerks! Hit the jump for the music bideo (bideo is the new video but I don’t know why it’s not catching on).
