I always suspected Jughead was gay too, he’s just not open about it. You’ve gotta admit — dude loves the meat. Get it? Because he eats a lot of hamburgers ! Wimpy from Popeye too. On September 1st, Kevin Keller, Archie Comics’ first openly gay character, will be welcomed into the town of Riverdale. “The introduction of Kevin is just about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive. Archie’s hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone. It just makes sense to have an openly gay character in Archie comic books,” stated Archie Comics Co- CEO, Jon Goldwater. VERONICA #202 features the full-issue story, “Isn’t it Bromantic?” that introduces Kevin, Archie Comics’ first openly gay character. Kevin Keller is the new hunk in town and Veronica just has to have him. After Kevin defeats Jughead in a burger eating contest at Pop’s Chocklit Shoppe, she desperately latches onto him. Mayhem and hilarity ensue as Kevin desperately attempts to let Veronica down easy and her flirtations only become increasingly persistent. Way to step into the 21st century, Archie, that’s awesome. Or you know, awful if you’re a stupid homophobic bigot. Hit the jump for a panel of the comic in which Kevin and Jughead discuss Kevin’s gayness.

This is a screenshot Geekologie Reader (and all around handsome devil) Beau sent me from his iPod Touch of what is arguably the best written and hardest hitting piece of journalism USA Today has ever produced. Amirite or amirite? jkl;kjl;;lkjjkl;jkl; Flickr Thanks Beau, and remember: when you don’t feel like writing, just mashing keys is the next best thing.

Before a major news outlet misspelled Large Hadron Collider . Thankfully, it was the Telegraph and not a really respectable news source like Geekologie. Because boy would I have been red in the face ! No, no I wouldn’t have been. I would have worn that shit like a badge . A badge of awesome. Now collide those wieners! The Typo We’ve Been Waiting For [gizmodo] Thanks to Liz, who doesn’t even want to know what happens when two giant blimpies collide. Magic, Liz, magic.

You see the guy in the upper left of the screen ? He’s a banker. A banker that’s about to look at some naked pictures of Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr during a live news broadcast. Way to go, champ! As Lakos studiously detailed the Reserve Bank’s rates decision, hold interest rates at 3.75 per cent yesterday, over his shoulder a colleague was seen opening saucy photos as the cameras roll. And just to make sure the audience got a good look at just who was viewing the soft porn, the banker turned to look down the lens just as Lakos threw back to the studio. The action starts at 1:12 as dude takes a look around to make sure nobody’s looking. Oh, nobody’s looking alright BESIDES EVERYONE WATCHING THE NEWS. You, sir, are a shameful pervert (thank God we don’t film Geekologie). Banker busted live on TV looking at naked model Miranda Kerr [dailytelegraph] and Youtube Thanks to Ian, who claims he’s never used the internet for anything but research…. BWHAHAHAHAHA!!

NOTE : F-bomb at 0:24 so turn down the volume there but still listen cause it’s funny. This is a news report on how to report the news. It’s 100% accurate and will blow your mind wide open like a knowledge bomb just went off inside your skull . Which — are you getting all this, Jigsaw? Just sayin’, one time I trapped my little sister under a laundry basket for nearly an hour. Youtube Thanks to Dustin, who knows no news is good news unless it’s on Geekologie.

Ten years ago, much of the excitement at CES and in Hollywood involved the possibilities of digital cinema and television. This week in Vegas, it’s all about 3D . Sony CEO Howard Stringer described it as ” the next great consumer experience ,” and was joined on stage by previously Kanye-bashed pop star Taylor Swift, whose performance was then streamed live in 3D . Earlier this week, Sony announced a joint venture with Discovery Communications and IMAX to create a new 24-hour 3D channel, to launch next year . ESPN promises to use Sony pro HD cameras to capture sporting events for a new 3D sports channel which will launch in June, coinciding with the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Sony, Samsung , LG and Toshiba all unveiled 3D HDTVs, and related 3D offerings. But Panasonic’s VT25 flat-screen HDTVs will actually include the funny glasses . The Panasonic press conference Wednesday opened with a live broadcast from Osaka, Japan, of company president Fumio Ohtsubo, using an HD visual communications system. ” How do I look? ,” his high-def streamed likeness asked the audience. He then introduced Panasonic’s new $21,000 HD 3D pro camcorder : two lenses and a camera head integrated into one body. More on the Panasonic 3D hub . B&H , the photo and video gear company much-loved by photogs and filmmakers worldwide, is in hot water over employment discrimination claims - again. Four women claim they were denied sales positions because of their gender. According to reports I’m seeing, there are historically no female sales staff at B&H? Also: earlier this year, the store paid $4 million to Latino warehouse workers who claimed they were denied promotions. CBS , NYT , The Photo Forum . In Tokyo today, Sony unveiled a 3D display that can be viewed from any direction. No glasses required, and several users can see the 3D images simultaneously from various angles. Snip: The cylindrical display case is 27 cm tall with a base of 13 cm in diameter, and features a 96 by 128-pixel resolution that looks better than might be expected. The screen displays 3D objects including a cartoon character, car, globe, and people. Sony created these objects either in 3D on a computer or by taking photographs of them from various angles. The result is that the objects appear to have depth, and can be viewed from any angle on the horizontal plane by walking around the display screen. Sony’s keeping details under wraps, and hasn’t explained how it works. We do know that it uses an LED light source, and that Sony claims it took about three years to develop the two demo models shown off today. The company has no immediate plans to commercialize the device, but a rep says they will develop versions with larger displays within the coming year. More: physorg , Network World TV . This is a video of the Atari classic Paperboy, but in real life. It’s a little longer, and I know most of you have ADD (I’m right here with you), but it’s definitely worth a watch while on the clock . Plus, the guys who made it are loyal Geekologists, and you know how I feel about you readers — I love you all like little sisters! You know, from Bioshock . I’ll harvest every last one of you! Youtube and Funnyordie Thanks to D_rock and cooperanimation, who don’t need paperboys because they only read Geekologie. Smart. Plus you’re saving trees!

Turns out the ferocious T-Rex (who, I would like to mention, is a brutal lover) actually started as a tinier , much more manageable size. OMG — I’m going to grow them in my roommates closet! Also, weed. About 125 million years ago a tiny version of Tyrannosaurus rex roamed what is now northeastern China. Tiny, that is, by T. rex standards — you still wouldn’t want to meet it face to face. Described by paleontologist Paul Sereno as “punk size,” this early predator stood about nine feet tall. It just seems small compared to the giant T. rex that evolved millions of years later and was as much as 100 times more massive. “It really is the blueprint for the later (T. rex) dinosaurs,” Sereno said, “it was a blueprint that was scalable.” The Geekologie Writer is currently seeking funding for a dinosaur farm. I will pay both interest and dividends on your investment. If interested, please send non-consecutive, unmarked bills in a Christmas card to: The Geekologie Writer 541 The Anti-Robot Way Dinotopia, Never Never Land (NOT THE RANCH) 8675309 Thanks, I look forward to taking your money and having sex with dinosaurs doing business with you.
