LG crams a portable scanner into an optical mouse

Computer mice come in a zillion different shapes and sizes, but it’s getting really ridiculous. First a calculator and scale get shoved into a mouse and now LG stuffs a scanner into one? How on earth does that even fit in there?

I have no idea why all these big name companies are suddenly deciding that the future of storage lies in optical media. First it was Panasonic’s 100 gig Blu-rays , then GE’s holographic discs , and now LG has announced a new long-term optical storage medium made out of rocks.
