Aww, I Love Ya You Little Freak!: Frank & Louie, The 12-Year Old Two-Faced Cat

This is Frank & Louie (presumably after Frank & Stein), a 12-year old cat born with two faces and mouths, and three eyes. He just made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the longest-lived Janus cat (named after the Roman god of transitions because of the two faces and all). But worry not — there’s no need to shed a trio of tears for the kitty , apparently he’s healthy and happy despite the fact his owner takes him for walks on a leash (oh come on — he’s a cat, lady!). Regardless, I think we can all agree that not only did Frank & Louie just win his way into the record books, but our hearts things to think about to subdue an awkward boner as well. Meow! Hit the jump for a video of two faces I’m not totally convinced yet a mother could love.

Cat That Looks Like Harry Potter’s Lord Voldemort Has Trouble Getting Adopted

Charlie is a 14-year old kitty that had to have the tip of his nose and ears removed due to skin cancer. He’s fine now except the animal shelter he’s at fears he’ll never get adopted because he looks like Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter series. Really? I’m surprised some crazy cat lady hasn’t adopted him because he looks like Voldemort and would complete her live Harry Potter pet collection. You’re sick and you need to get better, lady! Workers at the Blue Cross animal charity say visitors have been scared off by the white cat’s resemblance to Ralph Fiennes’ character in the blockbuster movies. And the similarities don’t end there as Charlie must now live in solitude since he fell out with other animals at the sanctuary. Now he sits alone, staring out of his castle cage, waiting to be freed. ‘He looks you in the eye when you talk to him, loves fuss, lots of tickles and cuddles and wants to be near you. *sobbing* GOD I’LL TAKE HIM, OKAY?! You see, I don’t know anything about the Harry Potter series because I and most REAL WIZARDS don’t appreciate that no-blood puggle or whatever Miss Rowlings spouting off about things she obviously knows nothing about. ONLY WITCHES KNOW MAGIC! *readying the fire* So, what’s it gonna be: Liar? Or witch? Choose carefully but we still burn both. UPDATE : Charlie has been adopted by a woman who does not give a shit about Harry Potter. Hit the jump for several more shots, including one of Lord Voldemort for comparison. The nose, similarity ends at the nose.

WOULD CATCH, SNUGGLE: PokéKitty

Would totally catch ‘em all. (Does that make me a hoarder?) This is actually a friend of a friend’s cat that was amazingly born with the color and markings of Pikachu . KIDDING YO THAT SHIT IS SHOPPED TO FUUUUUUUUUU. It is a friend of a friend’s cat though. I might steal it. Picture Thanks to Wehrwolf, who used to have a dog that looked like Squirtle. UGLY DOG WAS UGLY. And to the Candy Queen, who can produce all-red Skittles with a single wave of her scepter. OMG your majesty — pleaaaaaase hit me in the mouth!

Daaaaaaw: Steampunk Warrior Kitty Helmet

I’m calling it a Steampunk Warrior Kitty Helmet because the thought of a Borg cat scares the shit out of me and, truthfully, I ate some spoiled sushi last night and there’s no way my bowels could handle that right now. My own personal Mount Doom aside, it looks like Snowball here’s having a great time, doesn’t it? Just kidding, his name’s Hugo, possibly due to his resemblance of the LOST character by the same name . Still, if there’s one thing cats love, it’s licking their @$$holes in front of company you putting shit on their heads. Trust me, I’m an animal lover cracker. Oh geez — please don’t bite my head off! Hit the jump for a side-shot, then start crafting your own. Your cat’ll hate you for it!

Your Kneading Feels Different: A Bionic Kitty

Oscar the grouch kitty was sleeping in a field when his back legs got run over by a combine harvester. That story smelling fishy as shit aside, now he has bionic legs. His new kitten heels were designed with custom-made implants, which “peg” the ankle to the foot and mimic the way deer antler bone grows through skin. In a three-hour procedure, the veterinary surgical team inserted the pegs by drilling into one of Oscar’s ankle bones in each of his back legs. The implants, which are attached to the bone at the amputation site, were coated with hydroxyapatite to encourages bone cells to grow onto the metal. Oscar was trying to stand a day after the surgery and, despite some problems with infection, he was able to bear weight equally on all four limbs within four months. Fitzpatrick said the patient had made a remarkable recovery. “Oscar can now run and jump about as cats do,” he said. Heartwarming, isn’t it? Also kind of gross. But mostly heartwarming. I swear, medicine’s sure come a long way, hasn’t it? Reminds me of the time my little sister broke her arm. We had to put her down . Video report with bionic-foot footage after the jump.

This Is Important: Cat Crawling Into A Couch

This is by far the most important thing you’ll watch all day (suck it, the news!). It’s a kitten crawling into a couch . I love how its little legs are poking out before it can pull itself in. Did it remind anyone else of a calf being born, but in reverse ? No? Fine, me neither then. Dicks. Youtube Thanks to Sophia, who knows important shit when she sees it.

Eyes on the Road: AT&T bringing CruiseCast in-car satellite tv to market

Filed under: Aftermarket , Gadgets , Etc. , I.C.E. AT&T is starting to work with pockets of customers to test its CruiseCast satellite-based entertainment service before officially putting the TV/radio service on wide offer. When the whole clan is on the go, it may work to keep everyone calm and quiet, and when your Prevost motor coach is loaded up with everything else, you might as well go for the TV service, too. Truckers sticking DBS dishes on their rigs would likely be pleased with the CruiseCast system, especially since AT&T is using some new technology developments by RaySat that defeats the typical issues with line of sight obstacles and underpasses. For comparison’s sake, Sirius is cheaper and offers much more variety than AT&T’s 20 music/talk radio stations, but their optional Backseat TV service only offers three television channels, and they are all geared for the kiddies. Conversely, AT&T’s CruiseCast hardware must be professionally installed and will set you back $1,299, and the monthly payment is $28. Once the service is available for all customers in early June, they’ll have 22 television channels to choose from. All that for the price of a used car and more than $300 bucks a year in subscription costs. Official press release posted after the jump. REPORT: Volkswagen’s next-gen nav system to get Apple iPhone-like gestures

Filed under: Gadgets , Etc. , Tech , Volkswagen Vehicle infotainment systems, those all-inclusive interfaces controlling the myriad electronics on today’s modern cars and trucks, can make or break the driving experience. CNET is offering us a sneak-peek at Volkswagen’s latest iteration from the company’s Electronic Research Laboratory (ERL). Developed with Intel, the new system uses Global Open Research Infotainment Architecture, or GLORIA. Most systems today us a joystick-like device, touch screen, or hard buttons on the edge of the display (or a combination of the three) to control the inputs. Volkswagen’s new GLORIA system takes it one step further by making Apple iPhone-like “gesture control” possible. This means that users are able to navigate quickly by simply tracing single letters across the pressure-sensitive display. Another unique feature may allow users to import third-party widgets for the system, much like consumers currently load apps from iTunes onto their iPhones. As cool as it sounds, GLORIA is still under development and she isn’t expected to see showrooms for a few more years. Google Street View switching to trikes for roads less traveled

Filed under: Gadgets , Etc. , Euro , Tech Google has already faced plenty of issues with its Street View technology, not the least of which has been angry Japanese citizens and invasion of privacy lawsuits from Americans whose driveways were mistaken for a roads. Beyond these unforeseen issues, there’s also the rather obvious problem of taking images of places a Chevy Cobalt just can’t reach. Consider that problem (at least partially) solved with the new Google Trike. The three-wheeled, human-powered overgrown tricycles carry 250 pounds of ballast in the form of “a mounted Street View camera and a specially decorated box containing image collecting gadgetry,” says the internet giant. All that extra heft reportedly requires a “specially trained super fit” rider. Google’s new trikes will be deployed first in Genoa, Italy, this spring. Assuming that launch proves successful, Google will send its pedal-powered cameras to the United Kingdom, where they’ll point their lenses towards a slew of famous British landmarks. Have a good one in mind? Google says its open to suggestions and will be working with VisitBritain to pick the most desirable locations to shoot. To assuage those averse to getting their pictures taken, Google promises to “apply our face-blurring and license plate blurring to all these images to protect people’s privacy.” [Source: Google via Wired ] Continue reading Google Street View switching to trikes for roads less traveled Google Street View switching to trikes for roads less traveled originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 21 May 2009 08:58:00 EST. Car-B-Q: X-Series Grill by Porsche Design Studio

Filed under: Gadgets , Etc. , Porsche Porsche owners have long reveled in their ability to smoke the competition on track and street, but now Porschephiles can also leave their marque’s mark on the backside of burgers, hotdogs and ribeyes. Grill marks, of course. Barbeques Galore and Porsche Design Studio have burned the midnight oil for two years while working on the the new X-Series Grill. Under its sleek, German-styled exterior lies some fairly hot grilling technology. Instead of the standard gas burners found in most grills, the X-Series uses four infrared burners that can crank out 52,000 BTUs using 50% less fuel with 80% fewer flare-ups. By our very rough shadetree estimates, that should be good for a zero to steak time of about 10 minutes. Or so. With a starting sticker price of $5,999 Porsche Design’s first grill comes with a motorized rotisserie, an LCD temp display with remote probe, and an insulated double-walled hood. Step up to the X-Series Island (above) for $8,499 for a stainless steel finish and concealed cupboards and gas cylinder storage. All models are covered under a lifetime warranty for service, parts and repair. Also included is the right to brag to your numbers that you have a Porsche in your backyard.
