This is a series of superhero posters by French artist Greg Guillemin (of minimalistic pop culture characters fame) highlighting different artistic movements of the 20th centuries. My favorite artistic movement? Chubby nudes. “That wasn’t a movement.” Oh there was a movement alright — in my pants! A bowel one. I think God wired me backwards :/ Hit the jump for a bunch more.

This is a gallery of geeky logos made out of food . They’re called ‘”foogos”, because they’re a combination of “food” and “LEGOS”. Weird, I know. But I’m not here to ask questions, I’m just here to type the first thing that pops in my head and get drunk. Also, please don’t email me telling me foogos is actually a combination of “food” and ” logos ” because you might laugh now but I swear on eventually seeing a tit IRL I’d get at least two people who just stumbled into Geekologie telling me how dumb I am. And I am dumb, just not that dumb. But, as stupid as I am, I more than make up for it in handsome. And by handsome I mean obesity. Got a whole lot of that going on. Now, what was I talking about? “Food.” Ha — of course I was . Hit the jump for a dozen more.

This is a mushroom cloud treehouse designed and built by sculptor Dietrich Wegner. It looks pretty awesome , but would look even awesomer with a ‘NO GURLZ ALOUD’ sign hanging outside. *throwing dirtballs* READ THE SIGN, SUZY! The structure is about twenty feet tall, and the artist intended for it to show “two conflicting ideas,” which one can only assume is “play” and “doom,” though it’s supposedly representative of the contradiction between what our eyes enjoy and what our mind knows… Seriously bro? Why does every single thing somebody makes have to have some sort of pretentious message? Why can’t it just be a sweet treehouse to hang out with your friends and plan the toilet-papering of a neighbor’s house? I swear. I made an egg for breakfast but you don’t see me writing about how it’s the symbolic representation of my own rebirth that I know can never never happen because I was never properly fertilized or nurtured in the first place, do you? “You just did. What does bacon mean?” F*** this, I’m going for a walk. Hit the jump for three more designs of the same theme.

This is a homemade R2-D2 crash helmet lovingly constructed by artist Jenn Hall. However she is not REQUIRED to wear it, so don’t ask her if she licks bus windows (trust me, she took offense when I did). Tell me a little bit more about that sweet R2D2 helmet you’ve got. How did you make it? Did you start off with some sort of simple one and paint it? Initially, it was the ugly duckling of helmets. It looked pretty jacked up before I did my fairy godmother thing to it. It was an odd, dark maroon color and it had been used as a rental helmet, so it had sustained damage over time. Long story short, I did a lot of spray painting and clear coating. Okay, I want that. And not just so I can recreate the scene where R2 gets spit out by the Dagobah dragonsnake swamp-monster, BUT HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE? “Like a 6 out of 10.” Jesus, that’s it?! Well I’m not gonna do it if it’s less than a 7. “Is there a chance you’ll die?” Haha, a HUUUUGE one. “It’s an 11.” Awesome — ready my cannon. Hit the jump for a bunch more of Jenn modeling the helmet and a link to her personal art page.

Note: Worthwhile full-res version HERE that I was was in the dimensions of my desktop background. This is the Deku Tree of Life as imagined by artist Jude Buffman (of 8-bit butcher diagram and Rainbow Brite fatality fame) for the iam8bit art show happening right now here in LA. Apparently he’s got some prints of the piece for sale at the show (which I might go grab if they’re still available and the price is right!), but will also be selling posters at a later date. SCIENCE!: For my contribution to the show, I created Magna Arbor Vitae Deku (traslated “The Great Deku Tree of Life”) a sprawling exploration of the evolutionary biology of the 200 most important species from the Legend of Zelda video game series. Complete with binomial Latin names (Zora Bellator and Zora Fluvialis share a common ancestor with the more peaceful species Zora Sapien, for example), the brances of the Deku tree trace the evolution of each species over millions of years. Forks in the branches indicate an extinct common ancestor of the species that follow. You know, I can honestly say I’ve never given much thought to the evolution of Hyrulian species. What it would be like to bang a Goron, absolutely. Explosive. Get it? Because they make bombs! it would feel so good. Like making love to a parking lot. Hit the jump for a couple closeups.

25-year old artist Kyle MacDonald installed some rogue software on 100 computers in two Manhattan Apple stores . The software allowed the computers’ webcams to take a picture every minute, and upload the picture to Kyle’s server if there was a face detected . He then started a Tumblr blog with some of the choicer pictures. Unfortunately, nobody was picking boogies. Over the course of the project, McDonald set up roughly 100 Apple store computers to call his servers every minute. That’s a lot of network traffic, and he learned that Apple monitors traffic in its stores when he received a photo from a Cupertino computer of what appeared to be an Apple technician. The technician had apparently traced the traffic to the site McDonald used to upload the program to Apple Store computers — and installed it himself. McDonald figured that Apple had decided the program wasn’t a big deal. That was until four Secret Service men in suits woke him up on Thursday morning with a search warrant for computer fraud. They confiscated two computers, an iPod and two flash drives, and told McDonald that Apple would contact him separately. Whether you side with Apple/the government (which are practically the same!) or Kyle, you’ve got to admit it’s a shame more people don’t flash their tits at random laptops in electronics stores. Hit the jump for a video about the project and a link to his not-being-updated Tumblr with a couple pages of faces.

Super Mario enemies : a lot of times you felt bad killing them because half of them were just happy little turtles THAT DIDN’T EVEN ATTACK. Enter artist Mike Puncekar, who shows you what those 8-bit graphics couldn’t: the darker side of Mario’s enemies. This is obviously a goomba here, but hit the jump for nine more, all of which are nightmare-inducing. And speaking of nightmares: I had one last night where a friend, under the pretense he’d found a missing shoe of mine, lured me into this basement and tried to kill me . God — what a girl’s willing to go through for a good pair of pumps amirite?! Hit the jump for the creepfest.

Note: Larger version HERE in case you want to print them out and make little accessories for your action figures or whatever. Artist Fabian Gonzalez is back at it (it seems like he’s never not !), this time with a series of superhero flags. Can you name them all? I couldn’t. They’re all so colorful I just assumed I’d vomited on my monitor. *smearing with finger* OMG, I had! Fabian’s (aka Lishoff’s) Flickr via Superheroes As Flags [thehighdefinite] Thanks to Brian, who designed a flag for himself and flew it on his car’s radio antennae until somebody pointed out it kinda looked like two penises touching.

These are two Buzz Lightyear and Woody action figures crafted by toymaker/modder Luis Eduardo Vargas Montoya, who has a pretty sweet name . My name is Luis Eduardo Vargas Montoya — you killed my fish when I went on vacation and were supposed to feed them, prepare to take me to the pet store. I’m not sure if they were modded from existing toys or molded from scratch, but they’re both pretty badass. I tried making my own action figure once by replacing the legs of a Thundercat (Jaga) with some from a Ninja Turtle and the head of a G.I. Joe, but Votron made fun of him so bad and he ended up setting himself on fire in the woods behind my house with my dad’s cologne. Okay so I did that, but still. He wanted out. Hit the jump for a couple trio more pics.

This is a giant (30 picture) gallery of U.S. currency that have had pop-icon facelifts courtesy of artist James Charles (who has two first names). They’re all incredibly well done and are selling at the Shooting Gallery art gallery in San Francisco for $600-$1,000. But they were already valuable ! Granted you could say James is just defacing money, but I’d argue he’s actually re facing it. Zing? No? God I could just die! Hit the jump for 30 others and the link to even more (there’s over 50).
