Glass Floor Supported By 180,000 Little Plastic People

This is a glass floor supported entirely by the combined effort of 180,000 little plastic people . It was constructed by South Korean artist Do Ho Suh and at first I thought all the figurines were women and the floor represented the glass ceiling , but then I realized I got high with the bartender on my lunch break and I’m reading way too far into things. Oh shit, oh shit — this popup says I just won an iPad! Hit the jump for several more shots from various zooms.

"Growing" Furniture Out Of Plastic And Magnets

Dutch designer Jlan van der Wiel made these stools with magic by mixing iron filings with molten plastic and creating the legs by “pulling” them up using magnets. When the plastic hardens, BAM — you’ve got yourself a stool. “What the — I’m not milking cows , who the hell sits on a stool anymore?” Who sits on a stool anymore?!?! What the hell do you think I’m blogging from? “The toilet.” Haha, you have no idea how many articles I’ve written from here. “All of them?” Every single one. Hit the jump for a pictorial of the process.

Unexpected camera art featured in Year of the Glitch

Phillip Stearns created Year of the Glitch , a gallery of electronic artwork resulting from the shortcomings of digital cameras. There’ll be a new image added each day until 2013, at which point the world collapses to a single glowing, phosphorescent point inside the great cathode ray tube of reality. Pictured above is something weird that came out of an Olympus C-840L. [Via Photojojo ]

One Ring To Rule Them All: ‘Enter Mordor’ Finger Art

I thought the whole one ring quote in the title was kind of appropriate because it’s finger art . And where do you wear rings? “I’ve got one stuck on my penis and I’m freaking out!” HA — been there, done that. Just think about Gollum until you’re limp then slip it off. These are some custom fingernail paintings by DeviantARTist Undomiele entitled ‘Enter Mordor’. At first I thought they were just digital, but there’s a video of her actually painting them after the jump. Granted you probably shouldn’t watch it because it’s entirely out of focus, but it is there for you nonbelievers. Me? I’m here for you true believers. Now on the count of three I want you to all drink your Kool-Aid. Hit the jump for the video if you’re interested. WARNING: Mostly out of focus.

Spiderman Eye Collage From Cut Up Comic Books

This is a collage of Spiderman’s eye made from cut-out comic book pictures by French artist Mr Garcin. This? This is a picture of my eye made from torn up Playboys. “You sure? That…looks like a b-hole.” Haha, you got me . Psyche, I got you — you’re staring at my roommate’s exit-hole! Mr Garcin’s Website via Spider-Eye Collage [buzzfeed] Thanks to Tone, who once accidentally glued his head inside a library book and had to pay for it.

Photos of disassembled gadgets, artfully arranged

Todd McLellan’s gorgeous photo-series “Everyone has a piece of the puzzle” shows everyday electronic items disassembled and arranged in neat (or messy) layouts, laying the machine bare in all its glory and higgedly-piggeldy. Everyone has a piece of the puzzle ( via Crib Candy )

Feel Pain!: Robotic Artist Paints Its Feelings

This is a video of the Abstract Expressionist Robot. He paints pictures of how he feels based on input from a nearby microphone . *playing death metal* God, just stop painting and end it already! You know you want to. artist Benjamin Grosser offers up a mash-up…which uses AI to listen to its environment and process that information to influence what it paints. Overall a much nicer, more cultured use of artificial intelligence than, say, a swarm of flying death robots. …Grosser admits that “Lately I’ve taken to critiquing the machine as it paints, giving it audio input that is a direct response to what it just did. I’ll tell it what I think of each gesture it paints: if I liked it or didn’t, if I think it should have done something different, or how I see the latest mark fitting into the overall composition of the work. I’ve found that I tend to dislike these paintings more than others it makes, suggesting that listening to a constant critique of one’s creative process may not be productive.” Derder, Benjamin — NOBODY LIKES A CONSTANT CRITIQUE OF THEIR CREATIVE PROCESS. That would drive me insane. “Look — GW just took his pants off, he really should’ve kept them on. Now he’s eating cottage cheese and talking to the dog, cottage cheese is nasty. Now he’s banging his head on his desk and repeating ‘what word rhymes with penis?’ — that can’t be good for his brain cells.” See? I’d stab you before I even had an article written. Also, Ben, your last name is Grosser — that would make your children the Grossests! “That’s not how names work.” Oh. Hit the jump for a bunch of the robot’s paintings and a video of it in action.

What, No Surrealism?: Superhero Posters In The Style Of Different Art Movements

This is a series of superhero posters by French artist Greg Guillemin (of minimalistic pop culture characters fame) highlighting different artistic movements of the 20th centuries. My favorite artistic movement? Chubby nudes. “That wasn’t a movement.” Oh there was a movement alright — in my pants! A bowel one. I think God wired me backwards :/ Hit the jump for a bunch more.
