This is a short animation of a re-imagined Super Mario Bros. player select screen in gritty 3-D with an environmental twist by digital artist Jonathan Fletcher. Obviously, I would play the hell out of that if it were real. Also, have nightmares . “Nightmares or wet dreams?” Ha, that depends on what the princess looks like. “You mean Yoshi?” Yes, yes I do. Hit the jump for the MAKE IT REAL, MAKE IT REAL NOW.

This is a life-size WALL-E model made entirely out of scrap metal . If we were in a fight, I would definitely be going for that Adam’s apple. Oooooooor in the opposite direction as fast as I can (I’m a sissy-boy). SCRAP-E here is for sale if you’re interested (I know you’re not — it’s cool) for $2,800. No word if he’s dumb enough to fall in love with the trashcan I drew googly eyes on, but you better believe I plan on dangling it over a volcano with fishing line to try to lure him in. THE ONE RING MUST BE DESTROYED. Hit the jump for a head-on shot that may or may yes have the ability to steal your soul.

This is a stop-motion animation of a friendly battle between Ryu and Ken complete with special AND sound effects . What a minute — friendly battle? There’s no such thing as a friendly battle! IT IS IS KILL OR BE KILLED. Or, okay, run and hide, but that’s generally frowned upon. In this video I try to make the fight back to original and not to use too much special effets, hope you guys like it, this took me around 1 month for the proccesing, and yeap I am already working with Halo and the next one will come first with the hot girl gun fight, wish you guys enjoy the show…Thanks
Not even sure why I bothered copy/pasting that. The only thing you need to know is it’s a worthwhile video of Ryu and Ken action figures duking it out — or, should I say, hadouken it out? ZING ZING ZING ZING — I’M F***ING RETIRING NOW. Hit the jump for the good lookin’. No not me silly, I’m hideous!

This is a Nokia viral ad for their N8 phone featuring the world’s largest stop-motion animation, which was made on a beach using a crane (that’s a real boat in the picture). It’s a follow-up to their world’s smallest stop-motion animation and NOT a follow up to the job interview I had on Monday, which probably isn’t coming (I called the dude a pecker and threatened to choke him out with a computer cord when he asked for references). ‘Gulp’ is a short film created by Sumo Science at Aardman, depicting a fisherman going about his daily catch. Shot on location at Pendine Beach in South Wales, every frame of this stop-motion animation was shot using a Nokia N8, with its 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics. The film has broken a world record for the ‘largest stop-motion animation set’, with the largest scene stretching over 11,000 square feet. Damn, that thing has a 12-megapixel camera? What’s my iPhone have on it? “A shit-ton of pics of your balls?” Haha, you know it! Hit the jump for the video, as well as a ‘making-of’ if you’re curious.

Sweet rocks bro. This is an 8-minute video of Euclideon CEO Bruce Robert Dell (NOT Bruce Wayne Acer) explaining his company’s ‘Unlimited Detail Real-Time Rendering Technology’, that’s allegedly 100,000x more detailed than current polygon-based computer graphics . According to Bruce (who definitely has the pipes for educational television voice-over work), the system operates with point-cloud data, that enables point-cloud “atoms” to be rendered in real-time, in unlimited quantities . BOLD STATEMENT IS BOLD. In some of the demo-reel, they have renderings at the precision of 64 atoms per cubic millimeter, or 1-million atoms per cubic inch, and even zoom in on some dirt to prove the claim. I dunno, a lot of people in the Youtube comments are screaming, “lies!”, “investment scam!”, and “show some stinking animation!” which was a little awkward because when they finally died down I was the only one yelling “show some steamy man-action!” What? I had my fingers in my ears and I drifted off! Hit the jump and judge for yourself.

Eric Power is an independent filmmaker based in Austin, TX, who is best known for intricate, cut-paper animated short films. He created two such shorts as channel IDs for the Boing Boing in-flight entertainment TV channel on Virgin America Airlines , which you can watch while flying in their planes starting in about a week (channel 10!). I’m a big fan of Eric’s work, and am always amazed at how obsessively, intricately genius his craft is. Eric has a Kickstarter up to raise funds to do his first feature-length animated film in this cut paper style, “ Path of Blood .” Knowing how much time and crazy obsessive effort goes into his creative process, I can only say: I fully support this Kickstarter. And I’m not alone: it is endorsed by Ninja and Yeti as well. The earlier short film version of “Path of Blood” embedded above was mostly silent, but Eric explains the feature film will involve a “large cast of interesting individuals” and “plenty of engaging and bloody action.” The film will also push my cut paper animation to new heights. The level of detail the finished film will showcase is going to be staggering. Everything you’ve seen of my cut paper work so far has only been a precursor to what I feel is possible within the medium and I am very excited to put my skills to the test. Pitch in here , even if it’s only $5! If you have any doubt of this guy’s awesomeness, watch his wonderful vintage-video-game-themed “ Mario on Paper ” short below, which we’ve also featured on the Boing Boing Video Virgin America in-flight channel. What’s not to love? (via Joe Sabia )

This is a video of guy getting what’s being advertised as the first animated tattoo , despite Little Pete from ‘The Adventures of Pete and Pete’ having one of a chick in a red dress named Petunia that he could make dance almost 20 years ago. Oh right, AND THEN THERE’S THIS . Personally, if I were this guy I would have opted for a temporary tat, but that’s just me and I have a fear of commitment needles. Jk jk, ghosts are the only thing that really scare me. Hit the jump for not what I would have gotten.

These are two Buzz Lightyear and Woody action figures crafted by toymaker/modder Luis Eduardo Vargas Montoya, who has a pretty sweet name . My name is Luis Eduardo Vargas Montoya — you killed my fish when I went on vacation and were supposed to feed them, prepare to take me to the pet store. I’m not sure if they were modded from existing toys or molded from scratch, but they’re both pretty badass. I tried making my own action figure once by replacing the legs of a Thundercat (Jaga) with some from a Ninja Turtle and the head of a G.I. Joe, but Votron made fun of him so bad and he ended up setting himself on fire in the woods behind my house with my dad’s cologne. Okay so I did that, but still. He wanted out. Hit the jump for a couple trio more pics.

You know that movie ‘ Up ‘ by Pixar? The one about the crotchety old man and chubby boyscout ? Yeah, I haven’t actually seen it (somebody said it’d be too sad for me AND I’M DELICATE LIKE EXPLOSIVE GEL). Well, to promote their upcoming television series ‘How Hard Can It Be?’, National Geographic built a functional replica of the ‘Up’ house to — get this — see how hard it could be. SOFT LOOKS PRETTY SOFT. …March 5 at dawn, National Geographic Channel and a team of scientists, engineers, and two world-class balloon pilots successfully launched a 16′ X 16′ house 18′ tall with 300 8′ colored weather balloons from a private airfield east of Los Angeles, and set a new world record for the largest balloon cluster flight ever attempted. The entire experimental aircraft was more than 10 stories high, reached an altitude of over 10,000 feet, and flew for approximately one hour. The filming of the event, from a private airstrip, will be part of a new National Geographic Channel series called How Hard Can it Be? , which will premiere in fall 2011. MYTHBUSTERS KNOCKOFF. And it only took eight years to come up with the idea! Smooth, National Geographic executives. And by smooth I mean rough, like wiping your ass with a handful of sand and gravel. That said, I’ll still watch it. And not just because I can only stand so much ginger facial hair and berets, but…actually that is mostly why. Plus it’s hard making room on my DVR with so much Real Housewives and Jersey Shore. Hit the jump for several more pictures and a video news report of the I believe I can fly in action.

Homos in a half shell? Alternatively, “get a sewer!” [insert manhole joke here] This is an animated gif of Leonardo and Raphael makin’ out all hot and heavy. Which, for the record, I called from the beginning provided you replace ‘ Raphael ‘ with ‘Donatello’. Lights Out of the Day [thedailywh.at] Thanks to Carly, who swears she saw Shredder grab a Foot Clan member’s ass during a yoga class.
